Write the Introduction section of an SCI paper for international students using the Four Step Method

The first step is to clarify the research background.

The research background section includes the specific field or topic studied in the paper, while explaining the importance and significance of the research question, providing readers with a complete background overview.

The second step is to clarify the research purpose.

It is necessary to clearly state the purpose and motivation of the research, that is, the results or conclusions that the researcher hopes to achieve through this study.

The third step is to clarify the research method.

It is necessary to explain the specific methods and steps used in the research, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation, to provide readers with a complete overview of the research methods.

Step four, clarify the research results.

It is necessary to summarize and elaborate on the data and conclusions obtained during the research process, and explain the importance and significance of these results for answering and understanding research questions.
The Introduction generally consists of three paragraphs, accounting for about 10% of the total word count of a general research paper, and is written in an inverted pyramid style.
Specifically, the “inverted pyramid” writing style refers to placing the most important information at the top of the writing, that is, placing the abstract at the top, and then arranging it in descending order of importance, ultimately providing detailed supporting information at the end of the paper.
This writing style can help readers quickly understand the main content and core points of the paper, so as to read and understand more effectively.
