How to write the main body of a study abroad essay using the “PEEEL” structure

The first and foremost thing about writing an Essay is the idea of its structure. This is not really a sketch, but the building of a structure, like the cornerstone of a road. This way, the essay will flow smoothly.

Allow us to elaborate on the introduction and conclusion sections later, but today’s focus is on a generic structure for the main body. It is worth noting that this PEEEL structure is applicable to all types of essays, including essays and dissertations, no matter what stage or type of essay they are.

The “PEEEL” structure

The main body is usually divided into three paragraphs, each of which can be structured using the PEEEL rule.

P: Point

Begin by stating your point of view clearly, and be sure to do so right at the beginning of the paragraph, rather than hiding it in a way that could mislead the reader.

As an aside, this rule is similar to how we find answers in English exams, where we often choose the beginning or end of a paragraph. Teachers teach that these are the key to locating the topic sentence.

E: Explain

The next step is to analyse the sentence. The process of analysing the sentence is similar to running a train, and the chain of analyses is like the carriages (steps) that connect the point to the explanation. The steps should be listed step by step, without jumping around.

E: example

Give convincing examples that cover all levels.

E: evaluation

The process of presenting a point of view and then comparing it with the opposite view can be done by using sentences such as “xxx may not be xxx”, “from a long-term/short-term perspective, xxxxxx”, etc. and giving specific reasons to support the proposed statement. This allows the essay to be balanced with opportunities to analyse and evaluate different views.

L: link

Finally, make sure that the above points are closely linked to the topic, avoiding disconnections and linking back to your core point (the question itself).
