Overview of this paper:
The literature review component of a thesis is crucial. The discussion will address the literature review portion of the thesis in order to teach how to complete a critical and logical literature review.
Literature Review Definition:
A critical review of existing research on a topic.
Why is it important? :.
A literature review covers three main sections:
① To make the reader aware of the ideas and explorations that have been revealed about the topic.
(ii) Introducing a critical perspective so that the reader understands what kind of information you have discovered.
(iii) Uncovering gaps, i.e. research gaps or innovations.
How to do it:
There are five steps in total we guide you through writing a literature review:
① Use databases such as Google Scholar to enter keywords to find relevant literature.
For example, if you are studying the effect of payment methods on performance in mergers and acquisitions, the keywords can be set as: “M&A OR Mergers and Acquisitions AND payment methods or cash or stock OR mixture AND performance or stock price.”
(ii) Screening and assessment of screened literature. Judge by comparing citation count, browsing abstracts and references.
(iii) Summarise the thematic arguments and gaps. After identifying the references, examine their interconnections, including trends in theories, methods, and even conclusions; thematic shifts; debates or contradictions; and far-reaching studies. It is also necessary to identify research gaps.
④ Final draft presentation. After the above process is complete, reconstruct the body of the review to demonstrate your understanding and insights.
