Tips and Precautions for Writing the Discussion Section of a Study Abroad Essay

There are five steps

Re-stating the hypothesis of the research problem, interpreting the results of the study and their significance, comparing and contrasting similar and related studies in order to illustrate the breakthroughs of the study, analysing the limitations of the study and suggesting improvements, and looking forward to the possibilities of future discussions.

Six writing rules:

Do not over-repeat experimental data, avoid presenting new ideas and findings, interpret test result data correctly, point out flaws and shortcomings within the limits of the scope of the study, and be sure to express your ideas in the most concise language and in an unbiased and objective manner.

Each paper is a beautiful necklace. The Discussion section serves as the connecting link in the necklace and is given the task of linking the pearls and concepts.

I. The writing process of the discussion section can be summarised in five key steps:

1. briefly summarise the issues and hypotheses raised in the introduction stage, followed by a comprehensive compendium of the main research findings

2. provide an in-depth analysis of the importance of the research findings and discuss their value.

3. Compare and contrast the results of other similar studies and identify where this study can be improved.

4. Thoroughly understand the potential problems and challenges that may exist in the study and propose possible strategies to solve them.

5. Develop a blueprint for more in-depth future research plans and encourage further progress on this basis.

Second, the following are the six basic norms to be observed when writing the discussion section of an academic paper:

First, excessive repetition of experimental data is prohibited.

Second, strictly adhere to the “results” section to complete all the content of the statement and understanding.

Third, avoid over-interpretation and subjectivity and discuss only the data available in the Results section.

Fourthly, limitations should be discussed with an emphasis on improving the credibility of the study, rather than emphasising the shortcomings.

Fifth, endeavour to express your ideas in the most understandable language possible, avoiding the use of unusual vocabulary and complex syntax wherever possible.

Sixth, maintain an objective and impartial attitude, and try to use active voice phrases instead of personal pronouns such as I and we.

Rigour and accuracy in scientific research are crucial. In academic literature writing, the discussion chapter, because it can provide readers with multi-level thinking space, thus making the paper more persuasive, requires us to invest enough energy and time to sculpt, and constantly deliberate and revise.

Only in this way can we achieve clear and logical points and gain the recognition of reviewers and readers.
