13 analyses of international students’ SCI papers

On the road of scientific research, submission to SCI is a permanent theme. Every time we press the submit button, it signifies an important step towards SCI. In the process of submission, every feedback is our motivation to move forward.

Submitted to Journal

When you press the submit button, you may see the words “Submitted to Journal” appearing on the screen, which means your paper has been successfully submitted to the journal. At this point, you just need to wait patiently for the editor to process. However, if the system prompts “Submission incomplete”, then you have to check your manuscript again to see if there is still something unfinished, or consult the editor for specific reasons.

Manuscript received by Editorial Office

When you see this message, congratulations! This means that your manuscript has been successfully sent to the editorial office. However, the situation may not always be so optimistic. If the system responds with “submission incomplete”, then you will have to review and revise your manuscript, as sometimes the submission process may not be entirely successful.

With editor

Successfully submitted manuscripts will be handed over to the responsible editor. Depending on the editorial department, the manuscript may be assigned to the same editor or to several editors.

Reviewers assigned

When the editor has identified reviewers, the message “Reviewers assigned” usually appears. This process signals that the manuscript has entered the review stage.

Under review

After the reviewers have read and agreed to review the manuscript, they will move on to an in-depth review of the manuscript. It is important to note that this process can be lengthy.

Review completed

After the reviewers have carefully reviewed the manuscript, they will submit their comments and suggestions in writing, i.e., the “Review completed” status. Reviewers will evaluate your manuscript and make suggestions for rewriting, revising, or endorsing it.

Evaluating recommendation

Next, it is time for the editorial team to make a decision based on the reviewers’ comments. The editor will conduct an evaluation, analyse the reviewers’ comments and consider whether to accept the proposed changes.

Decision in process

Once the reviewers’ comments have been evaluated, the editorial team will make the final decision to accept, revise or reject the manuscript. You will receive a “Decision in process” message. At this point, please be patient and continue to revise and improve your manuscript during the waiting period.

Minor revision, Major revision

If you receive a comment for revision and need to make a minor revision or a major revision, the responsible editor will give you feedback on the specific requirements.

Revision submitted

After completing a minor or major revision, you need to be able to resubmit the revised manuscript. This step will trigger the review process again and ultimately affect whether your manuscript will be published or not. So it is important to be careful and take each part of the revision seriously.

Revision Submitted to Journal (another cycle begins)

After the revised manuscript is submitted to the journal, a new review cycle is initiated.

Accepted

When a manuscript meets the journal’s acceptance criteria, the editorial board will accept or accept it, and you will receive an “Accepted” message. This means that your work has reached a milestone, but it is important to know that your manuscript will have to go through the later stages of editing and publication before it can be considered officially published.

Rejected

If your manuscript does not meet the journal’s acceptance criteria, you will receive a “Rejected” message. In this case, you can either revise the manuscript and resubmit it, or try to submit it to another suitable journal.

In the process of submitting a manuscript, every feedback is a testimony of your growth. Thank you for the feedback that makes us better, and thank you for every setback because they teach us to persevere. I hope this blog post will help you better understand the various feedbacks and their positive effects during the submission process. I wish you the best of luck on your research journey!
