Have you ever been confused about ESSAY while studying abroad? Do you know what kinds of ESSAY there are?
During the period of studying abroad, ESSAY has become a headache for international students. Especially at the end of the semester, when ddl is looming and you have to take exams at the same time, it’s exhausting.
However, despite the difficulty of ESSAY, we found that many students do not spend a lot of time to distinguish the various forms and characteristics of ESSAY. For example, in the UK, universities and colleges pay great attention to ESSAY writing, and the requirements of ESSAY differ between subjects.
①DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY (Narrative ESSAY)
This is a more relaxed and less formal form of essay, commonly found in composition classes. Its main purpose is to describe a person, place, object or idea. The key is to set the tone of the writing, focus the description, use adjectives, and set the structure of the essay.
②COMPARE & CONTRAST ESSAY (Compare and Contrast ESSAY)
As the name suggests, this type of ESSAY involves comparing and contrasting multiple points of view. The key is to dig deep into the similarities and differences, avoid lengthy discussions, and analyse two to four core elements in depth.
③ANALYTICAL ESSAY (Analytical ESSAY)
This type of ESSAY is designed to understand the whole picture through a detailed analysis of the parts. The key is to identify the key elements to be analysed, to analyse rather than summarise, and to explain the meaning of the points to be analysed.
④NARRATIVE ESSAY (Narrative ESSAY)
This type of ESSAY mainly attracts readers through storytelling. The key lies in the use of vivid and specific language, identifying the focal point, focusing on the main points, omitting irrelevant details, and designing a compelling beginning and ending.
⑤ARGUMENTATIVE/PERSUASIVE ESSAY (Debate/Persuasive ESSAY)
