What is critical thinking?
Critical thinking allows you to make sense of what is going on when you are arguing about an issue.

How to have critical thinking
The above mentioned 3 ]roles of critical thinking, we can use these three roles to invert how to reflect critical thinking in essay writing

➊Who Has anyone pointed out the problem/theme before? Or who are the key players involved in the topic?
For example, if your tutor asks you to write an essay on a particular school of literary criticism, you will need to write about who the key players in that school are.
Or, if you are asked to analyse financial data from a certain period of time, you have to write about the background of the people who formulated the relevant policies at that time.
❷When did the issue/topic occur?
For example, if you are analysing a piece of data, then you need to state when the data is available.
❸What is the specific issue/theme? What are the characteristics?
Re-detailed, itemised statement of what issue the essay is about and what are the characteristics of the issue in terms of the time period

This part is closely related to the previous part, with two key words: how & why.

3 Evaluation
Although the process, objectives, results, etc. of an issue/topic have been mentioned above, if you want your essay to be of a higher level, don’t forget to carry out a final evaluation!!!!
The key words to assess are: meaning & think further.
The issue that you are analysing in your essay will never stand alone, it will be related to other issues, so you can elaborate further on how the other issues are related to it, e.g. good effects, bad effects!
