UOA requires the use of different reference styles, such as APA/MLA/Chicago, etc. If students are unsure which format they should use for their assignments, they need to check with the instructor ！！！！ Generally, we require APA 7th for all assignments and papers.

APA 7th is not just a format for referencing, but also includes the overall font, margins, and line spacing of our papers. Referencing consists of two parts, in-text and Reference List.

In-text citation, or citation, needs to be indicated in the body of the source. There are two ways:

author(year) suggested + XXXX (statement of the main content)

XXXX (statement of content) + (author, year).
The full stop needs to come after the in-text citation!
Reference list is the list of references after we finish writing the paper, note that you need to add a new page, you can not connect the content of the previous paper.

In the Reference page, you need to use Reference as the title, centred and bold! Different forms of literature or sources of data are formatted differently in the reference list, and need to be distinguished from each other

Webpage: Author. (Year of publication). Title of webpage. Website Name. https://xxx

Journal: Author. (Year of publication). Title of article. Name of Publication, volume(issue), page number(s). https://xxx

Book Chapter: Author of Chapter. (Copyright date). Title of chapter. In Editor (Ed.), Title of book (Edition, pp. pages of the chapter). Publisher. https://xxx
The second line of the reference should be indented.
