How to Write a Discussion and Conclusion of a Dissertation for International Students

In the process of writing an academic paper, the two aspects of discussion and conclusion are crucial, and their rigorous format and precise wording have a decisive impact on the quality of the paper. Therefore, this paper will provide detailed guidelines for scholars to better master the preparation of these two.

Firstly, about the discussion section. It aims at interpreting the research findings in depth and reasoning out the conclusions and their scope of influence. In doing so, the following points should be noted:

Firstly, keep it concise and avoid lengthy and complicated explanations, making it clear for readers to understand;

ii.Focus on highlighting the correlation between the findings and the original hypothesis as well as existing peer studies;

(iii) Use data to uncover deeper patterns and conclusions and show the highlights of the study;

Fourth, objectively describe the study limitations and spillover effects to ensure the completeness and persuasiveness of the article.

Second, about the conclusion part. Summarise the core idea of the whole paper and its potential meanings, while thinking critically about the theoretical framework and empirical research presented in the article to ensure the reliability of the conclusion. When summarising, there are two points to focus on:

One, define the core conclusions of the paper to avoid ambiguity;

Two, present extended conclusions or scientific outlook to increase the radiating surface of the paper.

All in all, discussion and conclusion are the constituent elements of an academic paper that cannot be ignored. The careful preparation of these two main chapters helps to enhance the professional standard of the thesis and further expand the research field. In the process, one should always be careful to avoid three major misconceptions: not jumping to conclusions, avoiding deducing conclusions into feelings and conjectures, and never misusing the thesis to answer personal questions rather than academic exploration.

These are common writing strategies regarding the discussion and conclusion sections. By following these principles and methods, we believe that every scholar can write a good paper that is both scientific and academically valuable. We invite all scholars to improve their research skills and articles in practice, and contribute to the promotion of academic progress.
