Exploring thesis writing: structure and strategy of a literature review

Suggestions for SCI Titles

The title should be concise and provide an overview of the main content. The length of the title should be limited to 20 characters or less, supplemented by a subtitle to clearly show the direction of the research.

Guidelines for English Abstract and Keywords

Please make sure that it is relevant to the Chinese “Abstract” and that it is written in the third person and in the present tense.

Position the title as “Abstract” (Abstract)(Abstract).

Font choice: Times New Roman; bold and centred; font size: three; line spacing: fixed 200; automatic pre/post paragraph spacing.

Compress the first line indentation to four words, the font is still selected Times New Roman and reduce the font size, in order to layout in separate columns.

Formula specification and layout guidelines

Be sure to use Mathtype to generate, the layout of each field is uniform. Most journals accept the formatting of centred formulas and right-justified brackets. Appropriate use of the technique of defining tabs can improve efficiency. When quoting formulas, don’t forget to check whether the journal adopts the full/abbreviated formula identifier “Equation” or “Eq.”.

Graph layout and standardisation

Visuals visually influence the impact of research dissemination. If you find that the design of a graph or chart requires a separate document, or that it should be included at the end of the text or in an appropriate section, see the journal’s submission guidelines for details. Tables usually require a three-line column format, with special emphasis on the stringent requirements of some journals.

Acknowledgements

“Acknowledgements are often related to funding sources and author contributions, as well as conflict of interest statements. Some journals have explicitly requested that a reasonable conflict of interest statement be uploaded separately, and many journals now require a statement of authors’ contributions that summarises each author’s contribution in a pre-determined format.

Overview of experimental techniques

(1) Animal models and materials: provide information on the types of experimental subjects and specific manufacturers and models; (2) Experimental equipment: describe in detail the specific equipment operation steps, specifications of components and their sources; (3) Medicinal materials and reagents: detail information on the names, compositions, specifications, purity, sources, date of entry, batch numbers, and dosages of the medicines and reagents; (4) Experimental environment and methods: highlight the statistical methods and conditions; (5) Experimental environment and methods: highlight the statistical methods and conditions; (6) Experimental environment and methods. Introduction of statistical methods and conditions; (5) Data analysis and interpretation methods: fully reflect the value of the results, and become the concentration of research results.

Guidelines for Presentation of Results

Presentation of factual information rather than raw data, and illustrative value of graphs and charts while providing regularity and comparisons. Explain the content of the study objectively and honestly, without personal subjective evaluations, and with evidence to support your opinions and reasoning. Because of the large size of the diagrams and graphs, the text should be complementary to the diagrams and graphs, and the use of diagrams and photographs should be minimised.

Conclusion and Discussion

The conclusion should describe the background, purpose, and core findings of the study in simple language. The discussion focuses on a full analysis of the findings, and a comprehensive prediction and assessment of the prospects and limitations of the study. It is also important to note that a three-paragraph structure is common in academic literature, with the introduction, methodology, results, and discussion developing the meaning of the paper one level at a time.
