Hello everyone! For those of you who are studying abroad, are you feeling head over heels about doing PRE? Don’t worry! Let me give you some tips.
First of all, the pre is not too serious, you can just say it verbally. You can describe it however you want. Don’t get too caught up in the details. Secondly, remember these essential transition phrases and sentence patterns, which are guaranteed to make you feel at home in the pre. Go for it! Let’s take a look.
Firstly, let’s review simple opening greetings.” Hey there, everyone!” or “Hello everyone! I’m here to talk about….” This simple sentence can quickly connect the audience with the speaker and start a good communication atmosphere.
Next is the self-introduction. For example, “Hi everyone, let me tell you a bit about myself and why I chose this topic for today’s presentation.” and then talk about why you chose this topic, which by the way can also let the audience have a deeper understanding of you.
The next step is to introduce the topic of your paper or presentation. This is where you can use some keywords to help make your points stand out. For example, “I want to focus on one aspect of… , which is…” By expressing it this way, you’ll be able to get the audience’s attention better.
Regarding the graphs, tables and such in the slides, they are also important. How can we do better in this area? Actually just say, “Next, let’s look at the data/ graph/ image that showcases…” and you’re good to go.
How do you introduce your purpose? For example, state, “The main aim of my presentation is to explain how…. ,” which conveys the message you want to convey. It is important to tell people what you want to say!
The next step is to interact with the audience, ask them questions and get them involved. This is also a great way to connect with the audience. For example, “What do you think about this idea?” or “How does your experience relate to this topic?” can stimulate thought and discussion.
Finally, there’s the beginning of the main section. Now it’s time to dive into the main parts of my presentation.” or “Let’s start exploring the key aspects of this topic. Let’s start exploring the key aspects of this topic”, which tells you that, hey, we’re going to get to the meat of it!
