I didn’t expect the two articles I wrote to receive so many likes from everyone! I’m very happy that it gave me the motivation to continue writing
Last time I talked to everyone about how when writing a paper or presentation, if you use someone else’s idea, you must indicate the citation and use citation in the main text of the paper! At the end of the paper, it is necessary to provide detailed information about the references you have cited, which is commonly referred to as references. This is because when readers see the citation in your article, if they need to further read the references you have cited, they can find the article you have cited based on the references at the end of your article! Citation and references are the most important parts of British papers! Here are a few points to note:
1. Regarding quantity – Actually, there is no strict limit to quantity, and one principle is that as long as you quote someone else’s viewpoint, you must have a reference! Additionally, it is important to ensure that each of your viewpoints is supported by evidence, which typically involves referencing research findings from scholars. Although there are no clear restrictions, for a 3000 word paper, I suggest that you try to have at least 15 references, as the citation of literature also reflects the width and depth of your reading! This is something that British teachers value very much! I had a classmate who was rejected by the teacher for not citing enough references for a 3000 assignment with only 10 references, resulting in a score of 48.
2. Regarding quality – quantity alone is not enough. When citing, it is also important to choose some high-quality literature to cite, rather than blindly citing any literature without thinking about it. This also reflects a certain level of critical thinking! For example, a previous news report in China related to the hatching of chicks from cooked eggs If you cite such literature in your own paper without thinking, you can imagine what your teacher will think after reading it! My suggestion is that you try to choose papers with more citations. Generally, papers with more citations are written by well-known scholars, which have higher reliability. In addition, you can also see how other people summarize their views from their citations To achieve twice the result with half the effort.
3. Regarding formats – There are many formats for references, and even for the same style, each school may have slightly different requirements. Business schools usually use the Harvard style! When writing the reference at the end, I suggest that you directly copy the corresponding format on Google Scholar and then change it to meet the requirements of your own school!
