The writing of a graduation thesis in the UK is the most difficult of all types of thesis writing, and I believe this is widely recognized. Many students are stuck on their graduation thesis, resulting in their inability to graduate smoothly or delaying graduation. Many international students have to put in a lot of effort to rewrite their graduation thesis in order to obtain their graduation certificate, hoping that the rewrite can be recognized by their supervisors and pass smoothly to obtain their graduation certificate. Below, I will introduce to you the five elements that need to be noted in the process of rewriting a graduation thesis in the UK, to help you do a good job in rewriting your thesis.
1、 Argumentation processing is very important
In their graduation thesis, students propose a viewpoint that needs to be supported by a reason based on evidence, recognition, and response to other viewpoints. Sometimes, they also need to explain the principle of their reasoning. There is no mystery in this, because every time you carefully explore an unresolved issue, you will apply these elements.
2、 Viewpoints should be supported by reasons
Your viewpoint is the core of your graduation thesis and also the answer to the research question. There are two types of supporting viewpoints. The first type is to have at least one reason to support it, and explain in one or two sentences why your supervisor should accept your viewpoint. We usually use reason to connect viewpoints with reasons. For example, the liberation of Russian farmers is an empty promise (viewpoint), as it has not improved their daily material life (reason).
3、 The reason needs sufficient evidence to prove it
Students often use reasons to support their viewpoints in everyday conversations. For example, we should leave now (viewpoint) because it seems like it’s going to rain (reason). We won’t ask what the evidence of rain is, unless it’s a meteorologist. But when you raise serious issues in writing, you cannot expect your mentor to easily accept all your reasons. A careful teacher, like that meteorologist, will ask students to provide evidence, reference materials, or facts that support your reasons.
4、 Having sufficient evidence to acknowledge and respond to other opinions
A responsible student will support their viewpoint with evidence-based reasons. But those careful mentors will not accept your viewpoint solely based on the reasons and evidence you provide, unless they think exactly the same as you (but this is impossible because you are presenting your own argument!). They will think of some evidence that you do not have, interpret your evidence differently, or draw different conclusions from the same evidence. So you must anticipate the questions raised by the mentor as much as possible, and then acknowledge and respond to the most important ones.
5、 Present the correlation between reasons and viewpoints
