Qualitative research is a scientific research method that focuses on in-depth understanding and description of phenomena, situations and subjective experiences, and explores the meaning and patterns behind them by collecting and analyzing non-numerical data.
Different from quantitative research, qualitative research pays more attention to the in-depth understanding of individual perspectives, cultural background and social environment, and usually uses qualitative analysis methods to interpret these data.
Then I will elaborate on the qualitative research method from the following points:
Purpose of the Study: Qualitative research focuses on understanding the deeper meaning, explanation, and social context of a phenomenon. The goal is to reveal through detailed description and analysis the complexity, diversity, and detail of specific contexts.
Data Collection: Qualitative research uses open-ended data collection methods such as in-depth interviews, focus groups, observation, and text analysis. Research subjects are free to express their opinions and experiences.
Sample and representativeness: Qualitative research typically has smaller sample sizes and focuses on developing an in-depth understanding of a small number of cases. The sample was selected taking into account the representativeness and informativeness of the cases.
Data Analysis: Qualitative research uses methods such as lexical analysis, thematic analysis, and content analysis to extract themes, patterns, and meanings from the textual data collected.
Presentation of results: The results of qualitative research are presented in descriptive words, quotes, themes, and patterns. These results help present the complexity and diversity of the phenomenon.
