A literature review is not difficult and can be done in just a few steps! Please remember the following six taboos.
1. the whole article is purely a list of literature, this phenomenon is prevalent in the process of writing a review of the document, and even some senior scholars are not immune.
2. a large number of paste the conclusions or ideas of other papers, simply lazy performance. In any case, the author should be the main self-reflection, with the help of other people’s views to express as a supplement, do not rely too much on copying and pasting behaviour.
3. Lack of analysis of one’s own views, which is quite noticeable to the reviewers. It is inappropriate to end a paper hastily after extensive research. Contributors should have an understanding of the definition and intent of a literature review before writing.
The meaning of literature review lies in the words “literature” and “review”. The former refers to a systematic review of previous research results and a detailed description of the research lineage, while the latter highlights personal perspectives and demonstrates in-depth understanding and insights into the field, which is essential.
4. The course outline is chaotic and disordered, logical thinking is confusing, which will undoubtedly affect the final evaluation, therefore, the text must be organised, emphasise the logical relationship, and avoid blindly piling up arguments.
5. Errors in the sources of literature and time labelling are the most basic academic mistakes. Such errors are likely to lead to mixed information in the article, can not be accurately indexed, so in the citation should clearly grasp the basic information, make a good citation, to ensure that the citation can be traced, can be verified.
6. The introduction of too much literature with little relevance to the subject matter of the article, this type of deviation is common in the literature review writing process, some authors tend to randomly cite irrelevant information.
